Why do you support Share for Smiles?

I support the association because it campaigns for useful educational projects, it is personally committed and the donations are poured into the projects without any deductions.

What can we learn from southern Africa?

Tolerance and serenity. The various religions there are capable of living together in peace and apartheid was overcome without any shading of blood.

What was your most memorable experience in Africa?

The great migration of gnus and zebras in the Serengeti. For that reason I protest forcefully against a road across the park.

What’s so special about Africa?

The kindness of the people and the terrific nature.

Why do you support Share for Smiles?

We want to contribute our share to offer a vision to children in Africa.

We speak through photographs. We give them to Share for Smiles because we trust that many people buy the calendar which supports projects in Africa. Thereby we hope to “gift smiles”.

What can we learn from southern Africa?

That you don’t need many resources to solve a problem.

What was your most memorable experience in Africa?

We had so many exciting and wonderful experiences in Africa. But we will never forget spending one night with a pride of lions in the central Kalahari Desert.

We were welcoming the evening with a drink when we heard a strange grumble behind our shower. We eyeballed the tall grass warily but nothing was to be seen. The flashlight wasn’t any help, either.

„There must be some grazing gnus or lions behind the shower,” I said. But Chris wanted to play it safe. So, he drew closer to the shower. Between the campfire and the shower, there was a bloodcurdling roar. Lions!!! Within seconds a sat in the car. Chris followed me as fast as he could. In the car we took a deep breath…

What's so special about Africa?

The people, the nature as well as the landscape, the animals, the spangled sky, the clean air and last but not least being able to  the feeling to be at one with oneself and the world.
